Anytime I’m offered the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Post Ranch Inn it’s an automatic YES. The first thing that meets me is the absence of unwanted noise. The stillness of the trees, waves crashing on the rocks a mile below, and the occasional rustling of underbrush from deer sneaking through the forest – all a welcome soundtrack. Janie and John’s elopement at Post Ranch Inn was one of my favorites. The light, her gray dress, his stoic character.
They got married on a cliff overlooking the pacific, about an hour before sunset. Whales were making their way north off in the distance. After their vows and the hugs, we wandered through the redwoods, seeking out pockets of light wherever they could be found. Again, gray dress – amazing.
After the forest offered up all the light it could, we hopped in a car and drove to Pfeiffer Beach to catch the last bit of sunset. I’m not sure if it was just the time of year, or the weather that week, but the light coming through the rocks that night was one of the most epic sights I’ve seen down there. Sunset, you did not disappoint.
