I grew up with this central valley sunset, with these wide open fields, but I didn't appreciate them until I moved away. ⁠

There's a lot of things I feel this way about: Didn't value it until it wasn't around anymore.⁠
⁠
I try SO hard to be present, trying not to let days go by without pausing to appreciate the here, the now. It's a feeble attempt mosts days. They just go by so quickly. Obligations and adulting grab at every minute like the waves grab the shoreline. ⁠
⁠
But some days, I do it right. I slow down enough to really savor the day unfolding in front of me. Almost like watching a movie, just without the ability to rewind and watch it again. ⁠
⁠
I guess that's the beauty I find in photography. A photo makes up for my shortcomings - my inability to be present, and inadequacy to remember the minutes borrowed by modern life. ⁠
⁠
The cliche quote often used here is Long Live Film but maybe instead, just Long Live Photos. However you take them, with whatever means you have, take them and take them often. ⁠
