I took this photo of Megan over five years ago on

I took this photo of Megan over five years ago on one of our many road trips back in the Before Times. Before marriage, before house, before Madison.

I've driven past this spot dozens of times since, and every time I think back to how simple things seemed back then. It was just Megan and I.

Spontaneous travelers. Risk takers. Adventure seekers.

Some days I want to be there again.

But this life today... It's beautiful and I'm obsessed with it.

I think right now one of my biggest struggles is reconciling the lament for those before-kid days with the gratitude for today. Missing one season doesn't mean resenting another.

I'm here for both.

The nostalgia for good old those days and the thankfulness and presence of mind for today.
