Indian Wedding at the Nicklaus Club

When Andy and Dipti invited me along to photograph their Indian wedding at the Nicklaus Club, it was an instantaneous hellz yes. Sign. Me. Up. Dipti’s family had their roots in India, while Andy’s were spread all over the U.S. and elsewhere. To honor both traditions, they did the best thing ever and had two ceremonies. A western ceremony in the morning and their Indian ceremony in the afternoon. Long but awesome day for me over here.

Whenever I get to photograph an Indian wedding, it sort of feels like when I was in elementary school and some kid’s mom brought in a bunch of cupcakes to celebrate a birthday. It’s like… we’re in class, and shouldn’t be partying here at our desks… yet here are these cupcakes and here we are partying… The formality of western tradition gets set aside for a day and the colors and festiveness of Indian culture gets cracking. Love.

There’s a lot I could yammer on and on about, but I’ll let the photos below show what a crazy great idea this was. Thank you thank you thank you for letting me apart of your day you two.
