did she really take this? i didn’t even notice. this isn’t bad. wait… she shot that through the mirror??

i guess today is finally that day. fuck. feels. those bubbas have been part of her life since day one. i mean, i know we told her when she turns three that she has to let them go, and here she is doing it and moving on from them, but i don’t know if i am. stop growing up bb. please stay smol. (thanks for the good times @wubbanub)

swing set. that was the right birthday gift. it’s her favorite thing and now we can swing together as much as we want. sure, maybe a wood-fired hot tub would be nice under these redwoods sommmeeeday… but today, swing set was the right move. not ready to see this photo next to the same one i’ll take next year tho.

this light is absurd. and of course you’d look that direction on your own. TAKE THE PHOTO. …you’re a proper kid aren’t you, just standing there without our help, of course, because you haven’t needed our help to stand in years. to me it was last week.

those locks on the table are the very ones you were born with. i was the first human to touch them. and now they’re on that table.

I took this photo of Megan over five years ago on one of our many road trips back in the Before Times. Before marriage, before house, before Madison.

I've driven past this spot dozens of times since, and every time I think back to how simple things seemed back then. It was just Megan and I.

Spontaneous travelers. Risk takers. Adventure seekers.

Some days I want to be there again.

But this life today... It's beautiful and I'm obsessed with it.

I think right now one of my biggest struggles is reconciling the lament for those before-kid days with the gratitude for today. Missing one season doesn't mean resenting another.

I'm here for both.

The nostalgia for good old those days and the thankfulness and presence of mind for today.
